From the Challenge to the Response

The fundamental and continuing changes in modern society are well recognised and well documented. The resulting world is one in which information is readily and globally accessible; where the dynamics of change are so rapid that traditional methods of training and education will be found wanting; where discipline-based knowledge will be inadequate to prepare for living in modern communities and workplaces; where learning will need increasingly to be aligned with day-to-day activities; where modern organisational structures will require flexible learning practices; and where there is a need for immediacy of learning and constant access to learning resources and support.
